Wooden Kora
A Melody Bridging Tradition and Modernity
The Kora, an instrument born from the rich cultural heritage of West Africa, takes on a unique and innovative form in this version where tradition meets modernity. While the traditional kora is crafted from calabash and leather, this distinctive design features a wooden body and a wooden soundboard. The natural warmth of wood gives this kora a unique tone, creating deep and rich sound waves.
The wooden body, thick and durable, reshapes both the aesthetic and acoustic essence of the kora. This new version harmonizes the timeless melodies once played by African griots with today’s musical explorations. Equally suited for solo performances and group collaborations, each string resonates with the soulful touch of wood.
The wooden soundboard replaces the traditional leather, offering a modern twist not only in the structure but also in the sonic profile of the instrument. Each note invites musicians to explore both timeless and new forms of music. The warmth of wood symbolizes innovation, woven into the fabric of a deeply rooted instrument.
